Clarion Partners' Atrio apartment complex has been named a 2023 Multi-Housing News (MHN) Gold Excellence Award winner in the Value-Add Renovation category.* Originally built in 2012, Atrio was converted into a new Class A multifamily offering with highly targeted amenities to attract and retain local Burbank residents in the arts and entertainment industry.
The 17th annual MHN Excellence Awards recognize the multifamily industry's most noteworthy people, companies, properties, and more. The 2023 winners were selected by a panel of judges representing expertise across all multifamily disciplines and formally announced during the awards ceremony on November 30, 2023, in New York City.
In 2022, Clarion Partners started work with developer Cityview to transform and rebrand Burbank's Empire Landing into Atrio through a combination of interior and exterior renovations. The renovation focused on improving the property's underlying architecture, connecting open green spaces, and reprogramming the amenity offerings including adding a state-of-the-art screening room. The property's airy patios, porches, promenades, gardens, and landscaping were key to the new natural design aesthetic and brand.
Sustainability was also a high priority for this renovation. ESG improvements include applying for ENERGY STAR Certification as well as the installation of 40 electric vehicle chargers, an LED retrofit for interior and exterior lighting, drought-tolerant landscaping, and ground cover in select areas. As a result of the renovation, Atrio boasts an 85% retention rate and residents have responded extremely well to the community's many improvements and refreshed brand.
* There was a $325 administration fee to apply for the award.
